Make a T-Shirt Pillow and Other
Fun Things to Do With T-Shirts

Give your favorite old t-shirt a new life! Turn it into a t-shirt pillow. It's easy to do and makes a fun project.

Here's how:

Lay your t-shirt flat and determine what part of the design you want to be on your t-shirt pillow.

Using a ruler and a chalk marker or other erasable fabric marker, make a square outline around your design. NOTE: leave at least 1" (one inch) of room around the entire design. If your outline is too close, you may lose some of the design when it's sewn.

Cut along your marked lines. If the other side of your shirt is in good shape, you can pin the two sides together and cut through both at the same time. However, if the other side of your shirt is damaged and not usable, cut fabric from other material using your first cut piece as a pattern.

Take your two pieces and put the squares together with the right sides of the fabric facing each other. The outside of the fabric will be facing you.

Pin them together.

Starting in the middle at the bottom, sew around the square leaving a 3/8th inch seam allowance. Stop sewing when you are approximately 3 inches from your starting position. This will leave you an opening to 1) turn the fabric right side out and 2) for stuffing it.

Turn the fabric right side out by carefully pulling through the opening. Once you have turned the fabric, stuff your pillow with polyfill until it is the desired firmness.

Close the opening at the bottom by hand sewing the edges together or by stitching as close to the edge as possible on your sewing machine.

Enjoy your new pillow!
