Examples of Quilting Hoop Frames

Below are examples of some different types of quilting hoop frames popular with home quilters. These are not heavy like the larger ratchet/scroll type frames and can be easily moved around. Also, with the turn of a few screws, they can be partially or fully disassembled when not needed. A feature which is great for those times when you want to take your frame and project with you to another location. Most are made entirely of wood, though plastic polymers (for the hoops) are gaining in popularity.

Round hoops in both the smaller hand size (for your lap) and floor models such as this one for the home quilter were the standard for years.
Since quilts are made from squares, it makes sense to see some square quilting hoop frames on the market. This one comes with a pre-drilled hole for a work lamp. I have one very similar to this one and didn't realize what the hole was for until I came across this picture! Silly me.Grace Wood Hoop2 w/ Stand - 3 Different Sizes
Though not a "hoop", this photo shows an example of a lap frame of the type often used for quilting squares and for other needlework projects.F.A. Edmunds Adjustable Oak Lap Frame
