Beginner Sewing Tips and More! Welcome to My Sewing Corner
Are you at the beginner sewing stage? Are you learning to sew by teaching yourself? Have you recently started sewing again and just need to brush up on what you already know? Do you want to sew just for making craft projects? Then, I hope this site will be a resource for you.
Yes, you too can be a sewing diva in no time.
It's easy to learn to sew and it's a skill that will last you a lifetime. It's also one that once learned, you will be able to pass on to your children, grandchildren and others. Once you get started, it won't be long until one of YOUR favorite sayings will be: Sew many fabrics, sew little time.
SEWING IS AN ADVENTURE! Whether your goal is to sew for profit or just as a hobby, every project you undertake is its own special journey. You'll have up times and down times, right turns and "wrong" turns. Moments of pure satisfaction and moments of pure frustation. There will be days you love it and days you want to throw everything related to it out the nearest window. Oh, yeah. Trust me on that. When I was a beginner at sewing, I shed a lot of tears trying to get things exactly right.
SO...No matter what your skill level, here's my number one piece of advice to anyone learning to sew:
"You must have patience with yourself and the project, acceptance that things may not always go as planned, and a healthy dose of humor to put it all into perspective."
Remember this. You will age. You will go through figure changes. The good news is, your sewing skills will grow as you learn to work with these changes. Simple pattern fitting techniques and simple alterations CAN be learned. A beginner sewing enthusiast can find many resources on-line and through local outlets which will teach you what you need to know.
